Overview

This webinar is the second in the series on sustainable and responsible investment organized in partnership with World Bank Group and CFA Society Malaysia. It focuses on the framework of integrating SRI in various aspects of the investment decision-making process. Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift

Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift is the Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia Berhad. He is also the director of all subsidiary companies within Bursa Malaysia Group and serves as a Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Derivatives and Clearing.

Datuk Umar has more than 25 years of experience in the areas of banking and financial services. He was also the CEO of Gas Malaysia and Head of Enterprise Financial Services Group of Maybank. Prior to helming the Exchange, he was the Chief Executive Officer/ Group Managing Director of MAA GroupBerhad, where he also assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Assurance Alliance Berhad (now known as Zurich Insurance Malaysia Berhad).

Datuk Umar sits on the Board of the Securities Industry Development Corporation and is an appointed member of ‘Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri’. He is also a member of the Financial Reporting Foundation and a Board member of the Capital Market Development Fund, both appointed by the Ministry of Finance

Datuk Umar holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Monash University, Australia, and is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, a member of CPA Australia, a Chartered Tax Adviser of TheTax Institute of Australia, and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) in Australia. He is also a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and a Registered Financial Planner.

Lutfey Siddiqi
Lutfey Siddiqi CFA

Lutfey Siddiqi leads the organization’s engagement, liaison, and partnership with members and stakeholders, including industry and academia. His regional and society relations teams around the world are charged with relationship management, representing the voice of the customer, and delivering on the CFA Institute mission in alignment with local market contexts.
Lutfey is a Visiting Professor-in-Practice at the London School of Economics (IDEAS) and an Adjunct Professor at the National University of Singapore (Risk Management Institute). He is a member of the World Economic Forum Future Council on Fiscal & Monetary Policy, having previously served on the councils for the future of financing and long-term investing.
His industry experience includes stints at Deutsche Bank, Barclays and latterly UBS Investment Bank where he was Global Head of Emerging Markets for FX, Rates and Credit, and founding head of UBS Knowledge Network.
Lutfey was born in Bangladesh, went to school in the UAE, Namibia and Wales, university in England, and has worked in London, Zurich, and Singapore, mostly in multi-regional, client-facing roles.

Mary Leung
Mary Leung CFA

Mary Leung, CFA, is the head, standards and advocacy, Asia Pacific, at CFA Institute. She is responsible for the development, maintenance, and promotion of capital markets policy perspectives in the APAC region. She also oversees the promotion and development of CFA Institute professional standards in the region. Mary has over 20 years of experience in the global financial industry, having worked in corporate finance, wealth management advisory, and fund management. Previously, she was with Coutts & Co, where she was director of Business Development and Management for North Asia. Prior to that she was executive director at UBS AG, where she led the Corporate Advisory Group in Hong Kong. With experience in both the buy- and sell-sides, Mary has a strong understanding of the drivers and dynamics of different investor groups, including institutional investors, corporates, family offices, asset owners, and high-net-worth individuals. Mary graduated from Peterhouse, Cambridge with a degree in Engineering. She is a CFA charterholder and speaks English, Putonghua, and Cantonese.

Adam Ng
Adam Ng PhD

Adam Ng is a sustainable Finance Expert at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia, specializes in developing sustainable finance policies, products and solutions for the financial sector in Malaysia.

He was formerly Deputy Director (Research Management Centre) and Associate Professor at the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Fellow at the London-based Royal Society of Arts (2014-2017), Research Associate at the University of Oxford’s Global Economic Governance Programme (2015-2016) and Securities Commission Malaysia-Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholar-in-Residence in Islamic Finance (2014-2015) in the UK.
During his service at the Central Bank of Malaysia, he contributed to strategic initiatives in Islamic financial infrastructure development and central banking collaboration, principally the establishment of International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM) by 11 central banks and Islamic Development Bank Group in 2010. He served in the management team of IILM and laid the foundation for the issuance of the world’s first A-1 rated USD short-term sukuk.
He has published in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Sustainable Development, Energy Economics, Economic Modelling and the Asian Institute of Chartered Banker. He received his PhD in Islamic Finance from INCEIF and Bachelor of Civil Law from University of Oxford.

Jim McCafferty
Jim McCafferty

Jim joined Nomura in July 2015 after five years with RBS/CIMB in Hong Kong where, he was head of Asia Pacific Research. Prior to moving to Hong Kong in 2010, Jim has been a top-ranked telecoms analyst and Head of Research in London with senior roles at ABN AMRO, Societe Generale and Seymour Pierce. He was named Financial Times AIM analyst of the year in 2008. In 2012 he published “UK Fund Managers and Institutional attitudes towards Japanese Equities” in the journal The Japanese Economy. Jim has a BA (Hons) degree in Economics from Heriot-Watt University and a MSc degree in Political Economy of East Asia from the University of Sheffield.

Rizal Mohamed Ali
Rizal Mohamed Ali

Rizal has over 20 years experience in legal and ESG related work. He was previously a legal officer for DRB-HICOM Berhad, a public listed conglomerate prior to joining KWAP over 10 years ago. He presently heads the Responsible Investment Section at Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP), which was set up to manage ESG-related initiatives at KWAP. He currently serves as a Member of PRI Investor Working Group on Palm Oil. He is also a Working Group Committee Member of Institutional Investors Council Malaysia
He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Honours) from Brunel University in London. He is also a Member of Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIFP).

Zhikai Chen
Zhikai Chen

Zhikai Chen is Head of Asian Equities and responsible for further strengthening BNPP AM’s regional franchise in this asset class; with the aim of generating strong, sustainable investment performance for clients in the region. He currently leads the seven-member Asian equities investment team based out of Hong Kong and Malaysia. Zhikai is armed with more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry. He brings a wealth of experience, from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to Putnam Investments, with a focus on Emerging and Asia ex-Japan. Prior to BNPP AM, Zhikai oversaw the Asia ex-Japan Equities team for Lombard Odiersince 2012. He graduated from the University of Michigan in the USA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and the National University of Singapore (Master of Social Science, Applied Economics). He is a CFA charterholder. Zhikai is also a Citywire AAA-rated fund manager.
